This page explains the current coaching school structure at our club from an early age through to senior level

 Mini Beginners

At our club children are introduced to tennis from 5 years of age. At this level they practice movement and co-ordination skills, learn ball sense and hitting skills in a smaller court area.

Mini Improvers (approx 8yrs upwards)

Children continue to develop the basic strokes, play drills and games, gradually moving from a smaller court area to full size.

Junior Beginner (Saturdays only - approx. 7 yrs upwards)

If children have missed starting at the mini level, they can join at beginner level to learn movement, co-ordination and hitting skills.

Junior Improver (approx. 11yrs upwards)

At this level, movement, co-ordination, hitting skills and serving will continue to improve as the children develop and become physically stronger. They will begin to  learn about  singles and doubles tactics.

Intermediate (approx. 12yrs upwards)

Children are able to maintain a rally and consistency with their strokes and service, and have developed tactical awareness of both singles and doubles tennis.  They are encouraged to play in our Junior & Cadet Sections which is geared to competitive play. They may have the opportunity to represent the club in local Junior Leagues.

Junior Club

Singles and Doubles competition.

Cadets

Children who have developed a proficient standard of play and demonstrate good behaviour are invited to join as cadets, which entitles them to play on Cadet afternoon. They are encouraged to play together during school holidays ands at off peak times when the seniors do not play (See Anne for details). They may have the opportunity to represent the club in Junior Leagues.

Young Seniors (Under 21 years)

Children are invited to become Senior Members and attend senior playing  sessions. This is not dependent on reaching any particular age, but on playing standard and good behaviour.

Adult Beginners

Little, or no experience of the game.

Adult Improvers

Able to rally, serve, and have some experience of the game.
